Yeah they do seem to have the driver problem except their latest one on the desktop, the GMA950. I guess the biggest problem for the guy is that he got a worse deal than he could have.

FYI: Integrated graphics companies from best to worst

ATI
Intel
Via, Sis, I am not sure which are superior, they are clearly inferior in 2D and 3D compared to ATI and Intel ones

Are they? Including S3's Delta/UniChrome or whatever it was.

Deltachrome I believe is discrete graphics and we are talking about integrated here so Deltachrome is really out of the picture.

I believe Unichrome is the crappy integrated graphics. From reviews I have seen it still doesn't manage to beat Intel Extreme Graphics 2, plus it has really bad 2D quality and support.

i have a desktop with unicrome (w/ athlon xp 3000+), and i can say it runs CS 1.6 slower than my other computer with Intel Extreme (w/ 1.7ghz celeron) at the same settings

So, I order an Acer AS1690WLMI-XPH from my favorite supplier, their description said it had an x600 onboard, and heck it was a decent price, so I got it. Turns out it has a GMA 900. I complained and they're offering me the laptop for a further 5% off if I keep it. The problem is I wanted it to be able to do some reasonable gaming (BF Vietnam, CoD, etc). Will this thing fit the bill?

Credit card chargeback. You did pay with a CC, right?

Once you've got your money and their laptop, tell them to ship you the one you ordered, and you'll send back the old one in that box.
