CHIP FIRM Intel has told its customers the speeds it expects its Yonah processors to have when they're launched on the 1st of January next year.
According to roadmaps seen by the INQ, Intel has further tweaked the way these dual core and single core chips are numbered.

The highest clocked chip will only reach 2.16GHz a launch in January, although it is a dual core product.

This is what we hastily scribbled down on the back of a i love you packet from the documents we saw.

No. GHz FSB Cache Cash
Yonah DC T2600 2.16 667 2MB $640
Yonah DC T2500 2 667 2MB $420
Yonah DC T2400 1.83 667 2MB $295
Yonah DC T2300 1.66 667 2MB $240
Yonah SC T1300 1.66 667 2MB $210
Yonah LV DC L2400 1.66 667 2MB $325
Yonah LV DC L2300 1.5 667 2MB $285

SC means single core, DC means dual core, LV means low voltage. Intel has tweaked this Yonah numbering scheme since the last time it told its customers what was coming. The T stands for TDP power 25W to 49W, the L TDP power 15W to 24W, and the U TDP power less than 14 watts.

Other products are on the way in April and later that use the "U" prefix. These will be the ULV single core - a U1400, clocking at 1.2GHz, and having a 533MHz bus and 2MB of cache at $260, and the U1300, with similar characteristics and a clock speed of 1.06GHz at $240. Later in the year it will introduce the U2500, a 1.06GHz 533MHz 2MB dual core ULV processor, priced at $290.

On the 1st of January, Intel will also introduce the 3945ABG Intel Pro Wireless chipset.

these are mobile procs right? they'd be mighty hard to o/c... lets say you get the 2.16 dual core, which is actually 13 x 166 (you'd need pc2-5400), so that means if you want to do at least 2.6ghz (13 x 200) you'd need pc2-6400. neat-o

Yonah LV DC L2300 1.5 667 2MB $285

When they make a desktop OCer's board I think this will be chip to get.. Low voltage meaning cherry picked..meaning high clocker. Can't wait.:)

I haven?t been following Intel a great deal, but I will be interested in its ability with a comparable AMD speed chip particularly a Turon. As I remember people a little while were raving about this chip, the question is will it be a big leap forward for Intel in the mobile market. I think its poor that they are still using a slow memory bus, but i suppose being a mobile part the lower speed = lower power consumption. Bearing in mind I don?t really know much about this chip.

I might be buying a laptop in the new year so depending on how this performs in reviews, I might hold out for a little while and purchase one of these CPU based laptops.

?? You never heard of dividers? Besides plenty of mem can do PC2-8000

I don't get it, why not just run a memory divider?

hey Zebo do you think this will be ever ported over to the desktop platform, or is it just a mobile part .. i don?t really know.

It will probably be just like the PM of today, using older motherboards with adapters.

Actually, maybe not. I wonder what socket the Yonah processors will use?

Might be a lame question but did Intel ever decide to make the Yonah chips 64bit yet or are they still going 32bit only with these?(Probably not a huge deal anyway with all those 64bit applications out there...but the future option would be nice to have).

32 but merom/conroe will be 64 bitness and desktop.. Basically they will be same chip as Yonah with 64 bits// That's really what everyone is waiting for - but Yonah will give a good sign of what to expect.

I will be buying laptop in the spring, but i will definantly have to wait until the DC Turions come out to make a decision.

i dunno.. i didn't realize that many people use dividers! (it'd probably be better if its LL)

Yonah DC T2300 1.66 667 2MB $240
Yonah SC T1300 1.66 667 2MB $210

why not spend the extra $30 for an extra core? it would be baddass if AMD thought that way too ;)

Those prices are actually a lot lower than I expected, which is great if true. Gives me something to think about a few months down the road.

Thnx Zebo- will have to start reading up more on what Intel is coming out with in 2006- sounds like some major changes in their designs are coming.

Therein lies the question . . . how long will it take before a suitable desktop OC platform for the Yonah is available? Remember how long it took before an OC platform for the Dothan emerged? Even the adapter is still a bit wonky, forcing one to use a narrow selection of boards. Still beats the i855 boards though.

Intel may fight against any attempt to make enthusiast boards for Yonah simply to prevent Yonah from competing against Intel's existing desktop products(which will be Presler and Cedar Mill, I guess).

Also, seeing Yonah launch at a top speed of 2.16 ghz is in line with rumors about the chip that we have already heard. That's a pretty slow launch speed.

Argh...

Just when I was about to pull the trigger on an AMD 3800+ X2 CPU, Asus A8N-32 SLI MB, and Corsair 3500LL.

Of course, a laptop will cost 2x+.

Cheers,
PCM
