Intel E8700 coming: 6MB L2 and 10.5x Multiplier

So, they give you a CPU that is aimed exclusively at the enthusiast market (again) with ridiculous stock clocks and according price tag for a dual core, and you complain.

Would you rather they release another low-end Core2Duo? Oh wait. You wouldn't care.

Seriously make up your minds.

Also, C2D's and based systems still are very popular. If you were to build a new one for a gamer PC would you opt for an E8600 instead of an E8700?

Should be obvious that a Quad isn't the perfect choice for a gaming rig these days anyway.

Where the heck is the "according price tag", when this dual core is set to cost as much as an i7 quad?

I still think that if you want a dual core chip, you'd much better with an E8400-E8500. Overclock those to 4-4.2 ghz and you are set. There is no point in spending that much for the E8700.

Not if they plan to break OCing records...

Since 99.99999% of us don't own liquid nitrogen, I'm going to assume nobody is attempting to break the OC records.

Intel had the page up, but now it's down. Luckily someone took this screenshot.

It should take the e8600's $266 price point, and drop the e8600 to the 8500's $183. E8500 will drop to $160 and E8400 will EOL...

I would prefer for them to release a Q9750 instead giving us a 10x multiplier and E0 stepping. Of course the probability of this happening is somewhat dismal but that's a different issue.
