I believe this is going to be "regular" price for a while, just as the E6750 was at this price for a long time. I could be wrong though.

Yep, that's gonna be its normal price for a while. It'll probably go OOS pretty quick with people thinking its a hot price, but then once it comes back in-stock, sales will probably slow down a little on them.

I remember grabbing my e8400 about a week after they were released @ microcenter for 189.00.

System spec is in my sig. I don't know, maybe I should just save my money, really no point in wasting more money on a system I don't even use.

Your better off buying a new video card. I have a 8800GT paired with a Athlon X2 3800+ OC'd to 2.4GHz, so I'm looking to upgrade to this chip pretty soon, as my CPU is slowing me down.

What? I don't need a new video card, I don't even play games on my PC.

So do not buy it then.
If you do buy it, then give it to charity.:D
Just kidding.
Why would you want it then?
Just a bragging right?

Im in the same boat, I havent gamed in years. My 7600gt will prob be in my rig for another 2 years.
I was thinking of replacing my e4300 with this chip, but really dont need it. So Ill just buy more storage, I definately need that.

Here's the thing. I have two system right now, one has Vista Ultimate 64 on it, the other has XP Pro. I took the CPU from the Vista system and put it in the XP Pro system. So was thinking about getting another CPU so I have 2 systems running.

actually (at the egg), the 9.5 multi e8500 @$274 boxed shipped is a good deal - never seen it lower
in a no tax situation, even better

I guess, if you're looking for that exact processor because you're looking for a teeny weeny bit bigger overclock because of it's 0.5 higher multiplier than the E8400. But honestly, is it really worth another $100? The E8500 (and all E8000 other than the E8400) is just not a good deal anyway you look at it at current prices.

I cant handle this A64 in my wifes computer anymore. I am debating if I should get the E4500 or an E8200 or 8400. The thing is I plan to build a new machine from the ground up this Fall\Winter. I currently have an 8800GTS 640 in her machine from my old game box. Should I push it with an E8xxx or just get by for 6-8 months with an E4500?

Until the e7200 drops to 120 shipped, nothing beats the value of an e8400 right now.

Im so tempted but I need a video card first. CPU will be the last piece of the puzzle since prices are a roller coaster ride.
