This seems pretty hot for a GREAT overclocker.

Link!

Most people can hit 2.6ghz with this chip on stock voltage, and it's been known to hit 3Ghz and beyond with a small bump.

$42 - $4 instant discount + $4 shipping = $42 :)

It's actually $11 more, and while it doesn't seem like much, bear in mind that is a 26% price hike. :) It might not be worth 26% more for someone looking to build a nice HTPC on a budget..especially when 2.4Ghz is basically a guaranteed OC on the 2140 anyway with a simple FSB bump.

Fair enough, though if I were looking to build a nice HTPC, I'd want something that runs cool. ;)

Ratings not too good for this shop.

Just upgraded my E2140 after 2 years of 3120 MHz service. Paid $45 for it used on ebay. E5200 from black friday Tiger via Amazon sale ($43 retail box) cruising at 3875 MHz.

Low multi and fsb wall around 400 Mhz limited the overclockability of my E2140. Might do better to buy an E2160 E2180, newer E5200, or a newer Celeron dual core.

This doesnt come with a cooler and consumes more energy. An e3200 is a much better choice, unless your motherboard can't support wolfdales.

Same here, I picked up the $43 E5200 and have been running it for a couple weeks at 3.9 ghz. It replaced my E2160 that has been happily running at 3.2 ghz for almost 2 years now, think I paid $82 for it from the egg. Highest I could get my E2160 stable was 3.4 but ran cooler (quieter) at 3.2 ghz.

Yeah those E5200's posted a few weeks back are overclockers dreams. I havent maxed mine out. I set it for 3.5ghz and it booted fine. Have stayed there at 3.5ghz till I get a case and make this my main pc.. I got that cheap Rosewill cooler for it at newegg. The Mobo was that reconditioned Biostar that Newegg had for $15 shipped.

You'd be the only person that is successfully running that combination, as the Biostar board doesn't support 45nm chips. I bought them both hoping someone would get it to work via a workaround but no one on SD or here has gotten it to boot.
