Intel Duo Core

I'm thinkink about purchasing a laptop with duo core tecnology and I was wondering what are the benefits of duo core vs. pentium M or other cpu's in terms of temperature and performance, and i would like to know if dou core can run 64-bit programs. Also include wich laptops do you think are best (my budget is $1,400).

Core duo is not 64 bit. It depends a lot on your applications as the the performance benifit of a dual core. They actualy use less power than the single core pentium-m's(dothan and banias at least) and all of them run nice and cool.
