So I've been getting a little bubble window in Vista telling me that Intel Drive Matrix has found new storage device, it is finding my vista install drive. It's the only hdd installed on the computer. This all happened randomly after running fine for 1 month.

It says something about only on port 0 and everything goes into an indefinite hang.

What the heck is that?

I had my HDD plugged into the 7th of 10 SATA ports. I have since moved it to the 1st port. I think this fixed it as my drive is now reading port 0 instead of 6. Anyone else ever seen this before?

I didn't know if this belonged in Strorage or Motherboard so I put it here.

Specs below.

I've never used Vista, but in my experience XP has never made a distinction between different ports. XP can tell which drive is which because it writes a unique identifier to each MBR. Then again I've used Promise and Nvidia SATA controllers; never Intel. You have the latest drivers from your motherboard's manufacturer website?
