Intel DG33TL MB problems

I got one of these cheap to replace a previous Intel DG965RY board which never gave me any problems. Using all the same hardware, this DG33TL board is driving me crazy.

The PC is always connected to power. I shut it off every night in WinXP SP2, and it goes into standby if not used for over half an hour.

The problem is startup when the board is cool or cold. I hit the power button and it cycles on and off several times. Sometimes it eventually boots up, sometimes it shuts off and I have to hit power again. Sometimes it beeps with a Processor Thermal Trip message. So far, I've always been able to get it going eventually. Once it's running, it's fine. No problems. Reboots and restarts fine when warm. Typical CPU temp is 40-45C. Room temp is approx. 70F.

This is a very generic system by AT standards: E6400 CPU w/stock cooler, integrated graphics, 2x512MB RAM, sound card, Seasonic SS-330GB PSU, XP SP2 Home. I "upgraded" to this board to get an E8400 CPU which I don't have yet.

So far I've: redone the cooler and paste several times (definitely installed tight), changed BIOS to older and newer, and replaced the board with a new one from Intel. Nothing works. I figured I had a bad board but apparently not since the new one's the same. Intel tech support seems at a loss, as I am, so maybe someone here has an idea. It's not overclocked, not possible with this board, and all the other components worked fine with the previous board.

Problem was the Seasonic S12II SS-330GB power supply. Apparently it doesn't like very low power draw systems. I put the cheap old InWin PSU back and everything works fine. Nothing wrong with the MB at all. A few people have reported similar problems in Newegg reviews.

Posting the answer in case anyone else has a similar problem.

also, check the bios for temp settings, some baords will not turn on fully till the chips have warmed up some.
