Why do they have it listed at 3.6ghz when the description below clearly says "first 22nm consumer cpu to obtain a clock frequency of 4ghz"

lol

Not to snark, but shouldn't launch be the word in quotes in the title? 😛

On a more serious note, that MC deal might be enough to get me to finally go to the dark side. Would prefer to see how likely they are to get to 5.0 Ghz in retail form first.

I would think 5G is a given. Would be an epic failure otherwise.

Well that cancels my Newegg Pre-order. Nice living only 10 min from a MC:

These wont be available till around the 4th of July it looks like.

Does this store honor or doesn't honor the online prices/bundles still?

I know they never show as in stock for the current K's but do they honor the prices at this store still when they are in stock? I've read they don't but have bought in the past at the online in store prices on the cpus and bundles.

Yes they honor the prices when you pre-order, or regular order for that matter. Microcenter has a track record of using CPUs as a loss-leader to get people into the store to buy the rest of their systems (which is why they wont ship these deals).

You can actually add them to your cart and reserve one with every other store selected except the one in my screenshot (Orange County). I have a message into their customer service to see why that is the case.

It's a great loss leader. Never have I taken advantage of their deal without buying a bunch more things from them. And I always just go to them for mid cycle upgrades. Not worth ordering from newegg when you have just great local availability, instant gratification and honestly just great service. The people that work there are into what they're doing. All retail can learn a lot from MC.

After seeing this I think Im in the market for a used i5 4670k. Save some bucks going used since I'm not interested in the i7

I doubt that my board has the power delivery for it anyway. :/
I'm certainly not an expert on the subject, but I believe most of the VRM horror stories are long gone, and they weren't really applicable to Intel boards anyway. The new CPUs are only rated for 4W higher TDP anyway.

Where do you get that date? I dont see anything indicating any date at all.

$306 out the door at the new Brooklyn Microcenter is just an awesome deal. Very happy 🙂

The 4770k was so ridiculously cheap with a board from MC that it was definitely the happiest I ever have been purchasing a PC Component from a B&M store.

I do believe that they use their CPU as a loss leader. Everything else was more expensive than Amazon/Newegg pretty much but the CPU/Mobo combo. I could definitely see people just getting the rest of their system there as well just to get it all at once for the small price premium they pay just to get everything set up that day and be able to play with it then rather than later.

Anyone have a clue as to what the stock heatsink will look like for this new i7 cpu?

There's no way it'll be the same dinky little thing that comes with the current i5 and i7 chips right??

From what I've read, some Z87 boards may not have the power delivery needed for DC. I basically have the lowest-end Z87 there is, so I'm screwed.

Cinebench R15 1006?

I'll stick with an old Xeon hex core @1032 & wait for Broadwell
