Hi,
My Xbox 360 died on me recently, so I'm looking to make a return to PC gaming (no chance of getting it repaired over here).
I've been looking at purchasing the following components:
CPU: Pentium D 805 2.66 GHz (overclock it and then upgrade to Core 2 Duo before the end of the year)
Mainboard: Intel D975XBX
RAM: Corsair ValueSelect Series Memory - DDR2-667MHz - 4 x 512MB
I have a couple of questions:
1) The Pentium D 805 isn't listed as being compatible with the D975XBX on Intel's site, but I know a guy on another forum who says that he's running one on this motherboard. Is he talking crap?
2) Are all D975XBX's compatible with Core 2 Duo processors, or is it only certain revisions of the board that support Conroe?
I know that the D975XBX isn't the most high performance Intel solution out there, but it's the only Core 2 Duo compatible chipset in this country at present.
Thanks a lot.
