i just bought the d955 motherboard from intel and i need to figure out what ram is compatible with it,any help is much appreciated

Three things you should do.

1 Go to Intel.com and look up your desktop board. There you should be able to find the memory THEY tested for your board.
2 Go to any of the many memory provider's websites, Crutial, Kingston, Corsair, etc(there are many). Enter your board number in their
selecter box and BINGO. They will provide you with what will work.
3 Then shop for your desired price-point.

You proably do not need more than 1 gig and can do quite well with 512 of ram for now...... imho.

Memory- Patriot Extreme Performance 2gb kit- DDR2 700 or 800 kit, about $369 at Newegg. I have not had any issues running this memory at 4-3-3-8 at DDR2-667 and it will do 3-2-2-4 easily at DDR2-533.
