Out of curiosity I looked on Intel and discovered that the D945PSN I've been chugging along with all this time also states "DDR2 Ram at 1.8v with gold plated connectors only".
Before this DP965LT foufrow I never gave a thought to the voltage used by the RAM. I assumed (you know what that means) that all motherboards suppled the required voltages for the things plugged into them - not the other way around as is the case obviously with RAM. I bought Kingston Value DDR2 667 RAM, plugged it in and went happily about my business. It just so happens that RAM is 1.8V. Would I have been in a pickle had I bought higher voltage RAM? Maybe so - I'll never know.
But I guess I'm going to come face to face with the issue on my new DP965LT. I'm getting Corsair DDR2 800 that runs at 1.9V and try what other suggest - get the board going with my Kingston 667, Use Intel's "burn in" mode to extract that 4% overclock and hopefully I'll get the >1 volts need to run the Corsair.
