A while ago I purchased a machine from alienware computer which had a Intel 875PBZLK motherboard and a Intel Pentium 4 3.0 ghz 800fsb processor. At the time it was the only place I could get these components. I have one of the oldest possible revisions of board v203.
The main problem I am having is sometimes I'll go to turn on the comp and the fans start spinning and the cdroms and harddrives get power but the screen is blank and the bios never posts and the computer doesnt boot and just sits there. This has happened spuradically throughout the time I have had the board. I first thought there might be a short or lose connection cause it always seemed to happen after I unplugged the computer and opened the case to add or change hardware, but there have been occasions where it has just happened out of the blue.
Recently I put in some new memory and this once again occurred, I turned the switch on the back of the powersupply off and then back on and the computer booted like it normally should. Thus this completely eliminates my theory of a lose connection because I didnt even move the case all i did was flip the switch on and off and suddenly it worked. I found a couple reports on this problem occurring and was wondering if there is a fix.
The next problem I have is that for some reason if I flash to any bios above P17, it fails to detect one of my SATA harddrives and one of my CD-roms in the bios. Any bios below that will detect both harddrives and both CD-Roms like it is supposed to. Is this because I have such a old revision of the board?
