I'm thinking about it for the passive cooling (silence is good) and room around the AGP slot, but most people are on a budget so they get a faster and cheaper Abit IS7 or Asus instead.

I just bought this board last night and will be building a system around it this weekend. I'm watching this post with great interest to see if there's any feedback about this BIOS.

I just recently responded to a question about memory, but this question is related, so I'll cut -n- paste what I wrote there, here:

I have been working with the D875PBZ for about a month now, and have finally achieved a stable environment. Had some issues with memory compatibility (and still have some), but here's what I have:

D875PBZ (OEM)
P4 3.0C (800 MHz FSB)
2 Gig Corsair TwinX 3200LL (4x512MB)
PNY GeForce FX 5600
Audigy 2
Seagate 120GB SATA (single drive, no RAID)
WD 100GB ATA and 120GB ATA

It has been important for me to keep BIOS version P06. I have restart issues with versions P07 and P08 (hanging restarts, blank monitor, reset all BIOS settings to defaults, etc.), and Intel Support has suggested that I continue using P06 until they can address the problems (probably related to the Corsair memory). Although, since everything works fine under P06, I'm not missing anything (yet). If you have different memory, you might be fine with the newer BIOS versions, but I tell you this as a precaution . . .

For the memory settings, everything runs perfectly with the Corsair memory when I set the timings manually in the BIOS:

SDRAM Freq: 400 MHz
SDRAM Timing Control: Manual-User Defined
CPC Override: Auto
SDRAM RAS Act. to Pre: 5
SDRAM CAS# Latency: 2.0
SDRAM RAS# to CAS# delay: 3
SDRAM RAS# Precharge: 2

thagomizer - Have you thought about backing your timings down to something like 2-3-3-6 or 2-3-3-7? Some folks over at OCforums have had very good luck doing that.

Yeah, 2-3-3-5 seems rather agressive. I'd back it off a bit. Although you've probably already tried this.

Just out of curiousity, what timings does it default to?

Well, since I posted the other day I've got my shiny new 875PBZ up and running and am having the exact same BIOS issue as thagomizer. Any BIOS over P06 gives me reboot problems. I was intially using Mushkin (Dual Pack, 1GB) PC3200 RAM set at 2-3-3-6 but I backed the timings off to 2.5-4-4-8 and it still did it. Took the (year old) Corsair 2 x 512MB XMS3200C2 out of my old P4 rig and tried it. Have the same problems so now I'm stuck at P06 until I can figure this issue out.

Well, I'm shopping for a new CPU/mobo, and I'm looking at an Intel P4-3.0C w/a 875 (or a good 865) mobo. I was looking at the Intel D875DBZ since it was a lot less than competing boards w/the integrated gigabit LAN. Far too many of the 865/875 boards are not using the integrated gigabit LAN. :(

Since I have Corsair PC3500 memory in my current system, the reports of memory compatibility issues is making me warry. According to Anand's memory compatibility round-up, all of the other major manufactures have resolved the memory issues with bios updates.

Just curious, what are your impressions of the board otherwise? Bios features, layout, stability, performance, etc. I'm not an overclocker, so overclocking features aren't important to me, but I do like to have a lot of bios tweaking options (especially memory timings).

People have been having very good luck with the Corsair 3500 (which they seem to be discontinuing already) so you should have a pretty good chance with it.

I've just barely got Windows loaded on my new rig so I can't make lots of comments abou the performance/stability of the board yet The layout is nice, you can actually get the RAM in and out without having to pull the Vidcard, that's a pleasant change from most of the MoBos I've worked with over the last few years. The BIOS is fine, mostly it's the typical Intel BIOS but this does have fairly adjustable memory settings on it as well as the 4% OC via "burn-in mode".

One of the coolest things about this BIOS is that during POST you can press "F10" and you'll get a boot-order menu so you can change the order of the bootable devices on the fly so you can specify the CDrom drives during your OS install without having to go into the BIOS and change it formally. Your choice just sticks one time and reverts to the BIOS setting for the next boot. Maybe this feature exists on other MoBos too and I've just missed it but it's pretty neat.
