Hey there...
I am kinda new to the new motherboards out there... I just built a new machine with a P4 2.4ghz and Intel D845PESV board. I have a Diamond Viper V770 AGP card that I put in the machine to no avail... I read up on this stuff and I find out it's a 3.3V card... Did I fry my AGP slot??? Please tell me I didn't!!! I need to get a new video card... that I understand... but please don't tell me I need another new board!!! Any help? Does it definately fry to slot? I am running on the machine now with a PCI video card, but I would really like to take advantage of this AGP slot and PCI slot for dual monitors...

Please... any info would be great...
Thanks...

Ensure that you have the jumpers on the V770 set correctly for AGP4X operation.

You mean that the V770 can run on that board? Also, do you know where I can get jumper settings? I didn't see any jumpers on the card. I got this card with my Dell machine in october of 1999.

I think Mr. FAQ man was referring to the Diamond Ultra V770, it had jumpers.

Link for jumper settings -->>Andy's Card

From diamond/Sonic blue's site

Q: I have a Viper V770D that came with my Dell computer and would like to update my drivers.

A: The OEM Dell card is different enough from the full retail version of the V770 Ultra that we do not recommend using Diamond drivers with it.

I would suggest just trying a known video card that is compatible video card that works with your motherboard specs, and yes maybe, your board might of taking a dump.

Good luck

I can use the rest of the machine...
Do you think only the AGP slot would get burned?
The V770D does NOT have jumpers and it IS keyed to go into 1.5V slots... I will test a different card if I can find one...
Any idea about the isolated slot?

This is according to the FAQ man's site

These cards will short the Vddq and VCC3.3 lines and permanently damage the i82845 Memory Controller Hub, rendering your motherboard useless.

if the board is still functioning, then it look likes you're okay then.
