Intel CPU warranty

From your own experiences, could you tell me the procedure to RMA an Intel CPU? What kind of information do you need?

I am asking because I'm concerned about buying used retail CPU's.

Intel 3-year limited warranty

THIS LIMITED WARRANTY, AND ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES THAT MAY EXIST UNDER STATE LAW, APPLY ONLY TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER OF THE BOXED PROCESSOR, OR BOXED PROCESSOR-BASED COMPUTER AND LAST ONLY FOR AS LONG AS SUCH PURCHASER CONTINUES TO OWN THE PROCESSORS.

Looks like it's a moot point. This is the normal practice for most consumer goods, excluding some items such as automobiles.
