Buying a 2nd new computer . My present one will go to my wife--it is AMD64 4000 with Nvidia 6800/Video card --2G Ram-Antec case------what I like about my present system is that it runs so cool as in Farenheit .--even after an hour of gaming etc. ++++For my new system I am looking at the Intel Core 2 E 8400, 3.0 Ghz with dual nVidia Gef-8800 GT 512 Video cards and 4Gb of ram.-----This is my question--does this Intel CPU Core 2 E 8400 run hot ?? --or a lot hotter than if I were to instead buy dual AMD 6400 Athlons ? --yes I know of couse the Intel runs faster but I live in Ga. and I don't need additional heat 6 months of the year.-----------My wife's present old computer has an Intel Pentium 3 or 4 in it and runs hot !!

You should be happy with the heat from an 8400 I am. It is cooler than your current rig.
It will heat up a bit overclocked depending how high you go. I have to stress or game for mine even to get up to the standard 9x mult.

That's cos you have EIST enabled in the bios...
It's good to have, BTW. I turn it off while OCing then back on when it is rock solid.

I plan on taking mine back to 3 ghz when we hit june, right now i am loving the rain and hating the allergies

mine runs very hot. 70-73C under orthos load =[ and 60-60C under gaming load.

I brought it OEM so i brought an different 775 heatsink. So, i need a new heatsink that supports the e8400. Right now its @ 49 both cores while idle.

The E8400 will run way cooler than the x2 6400. That x2 6400 has a 125W TDP which is breaking motherboards right now which don't have extra heavy duty power delivery. Go to AT's main page and read about it in their motherboard rant.
