Hi, was wondering if anyone knows about CPUs and underclocking?

I am attempting to put together a barebones Shuttle kit, specifically the SS30G2
http://global.shuttle.com/Product/Barebone/SS30G2.asp

The CPU I have is a Intel Core2 Duo E6300 which is quoted at running at 1066Mhz FSB, and after installing all compontents into the barebones, the computer powers up, but no display output comes on screen.

I am thinking it is possible that the processor is preventing the computer from booting properly as the motherboard is quoted to support only 533/800Mhz FSB's.

Does anyone know if this could prevent any monitor output, and has anyone had any similar problems?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Probably the bios doesn;t support that CPU. Check for bios updates on the shuttle website.

I just checked. Looks like that motherboard won't support that chip.

The Core 2 Duos not only run at a higher Front Side Bus, but they run at a lower voltage and require different voltage regulators than your board likely has.

You need something off the supported list.

The others here are correct. If you read the spex on that barebones kit, there is no C2D support. If you are wanting a Shuttle kit specifically, try this one:
