Ashes of Singularity benchmark remains a popular prototype benchmarking tool for testers. The latest CPUs and GPUs are tested there before they are even made public. Lucky for Us, we can have information prior to the launch of particular CPU and GPU. The initial benchmarks test depends on several variables and samples so you take this information with a grain of a salt.

Huh. Interesting. The 9900k scores better in heavy batch vs normal batch, vice versa for the 8700k.

In the end kind of a wash.

Also, RX Vega? Why?

Is this mostly the extra cache doing the heavy lifting? I thought Ashes didn't really scale above 6 cores anyway?

Is it normal to not specify which Vega card it is? It just says RX Vega.

If it were locked at 3.6 the CPU framerates would be lower than the ones of the 8700K....
So that's even more suspicious that the leaker does not know.

Perhaps both were locked at 3.6/3.7 to compare clock for clock with two more cores and more cache?

Because it change nothing as CPU framerates are CPU tests and dont rely on the GFX, it s the framerates if the CPU wouldnt be GPU limited.

Hmm, okay. Still seems weird to use a Vega but hey, why not?

Dunno if he s not more knowledgeable than what he state, comparisons with what s available with the 8700k in the AoS database could give a hint...

For the CPU framerate it doesnt matter, also not using a faster GPU is a mean to not give infos on the behaviour in CPU limited graphic tests, if they used a 1080ti the actual perf would be transparent, or at least better cornered...
