Thanks OP :)

Decided to make the trek to microcenter today and pick one up. Needed a CPU to test a motherboard I got back from RMA. Figured with the price after coupon I won't loose any money selling it off afterwards....Unless it's a nice overclocker then I may just keep it and sell my above average 2700k.

Used the $15 off any purchase coupon while I was there on a mem card for my phone and a charger for my daughters.

can it also be combined with $50 off mobo?

The i5-2550k can be combined to get $20 off a GPU

But the i5-2500k can be combined with $50 off a mobo - best value right now is a 2500k with the Asrock Extreme3 Gen3 mobo.

Thanks OP :)

I combined the $15 off with this deal and got the i5-2550k for $135

Where can you find the $15 off coupon?

If you signed up for a user account on Microcenter's website they e-mail it to you...

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2233062

Or find someone that have one already and they can e-mail one to you (Microcenter's way of getting you to refer friends)

One per e-mail addy and one per trip (so you can't stack a gazzillion $15 off coupons to get free stuff).

I found out you can use to same code more than once! Just make sure the printout has our correct e-mail addy or else they'll send your digital invoice to your friend or e-maill on the barcode scanner (Yep they sent the invoice of my i5-2550k to my friend).

Edit: One $15 off anything coupon code per mailing address... so you can use the same code mulitple times/visits but they have to use a different mailing address for their POS systems when you check out...

Congrats on the upgrade. Where do you notice the difference most (think you had a PII before)?

THANKS!!

Just picked up the ASRock Extreme3 Gen3 and PC case from NewEgg Will Call today during my lunch break (MC was out of stock this past weekend) and my new Cosair RAM (1.5v) came in a day early too - Love AMAZON PRIME!! Got new ram because I heard my current DDR3 is 1.65v and may cause unstability... Will be putting everything together tonite (But my Samsung 830 SSD is backordered from AMAZON till mid April)....

All I know is that with Phenom II 965 when I fight max battles on TW: Shogun 2 it lags or when everyone smoke bombs in Metro MAP in BF3 it judders when I have MSAAx4 turned on... When the Phenom II 965 I can't have FRAPs on to record my BF3 game play - there were alot of great battle field moments I had of AT members and myself flanking the opposing team that I never get to record...

I'll let you know after I play with the new build for a week...

This build is to get ready for Ivy and the GTX 680 or whatever Nvidia has coming out, too...:D

Thanks to everyone on AnandTech with their recommendations and help!

Nope... there is people like me that don't want an integrated GPU and intel learned that most people buying i5-2500k are gamers whom buy descrete cards anyways... the i5-2550k also can overclock higher than the i5-2500k... stock clock is also 3.4GHz vs 3.3GHz

Have there been any reviews that state that disabling the GPU actually increases total TDP available to the CPU? That would certainly be interesting...

I saw Kenmitch's results here and that was why I took the plunge too (if Ivy Bridge doesn't live up) - He got it to 5GHz!!!

Here are some OC results for the 2500k

Or at least he had an easier OC results with the 2550k than the guy with the 2500k
