Intel Core 2 Duo Processors

Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster. I have been away from the PC scene for a little while and the Core 2 Duo Processors have really caught my eye in terms of stock and especially overclocked performance. Now from what I understand, the E6300 and above all have a 1066MHz front side bus. The question that I have searched for on this site and Intel's site as well is what is the mainstream MB for this processor, is it the P965? And here is my major question, what is the stock memory for these processors that is recommended by Intel and the MB manufacturers? I see the boards accept DDR2 533/667/800 and does the 1066MHz front side bus come from the effective memory rate x 2? So a 533MHz DD2 module would equal the 1066MHz front side bus and anything higher would allow for O/C abilities? So is the effective FSB 266MHz and is Intel still using the quad pumped thing? I am sorry for these question but they have been urking the crap out of me and I was sure you would all know the answers.

Yes the p965 and 975x are the primary chipsets for core 2. As far as your memory question I belive on most that DDR2 800 is pretty much what all boards support.

If you OC and run a 1:1 ratio with DDR2 800, at 400mhz you hit stock speeds, and anything past that you're obviously overclocking your memory and the majority of the ddr2800 overclocks very well.

So how do you breakdown DDR2 800? What is it's effective clock speed and how does it relate to the 1066MHz FSB?

I dont know enough about memory to answer that question
