I was building a new computer and did not know what processor to get. I want to overclock it, and so i want to get the best bang for my buck. My friend suggusted to get a Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 which can easily be overclocked to 3.0. I was going to go with the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler heatsink. Also the motherboard is going to be GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3P. Thank you for the help

e6550 has a 7 multiplier, farthest you will get with ddr2 800mhz will be 2.8ghz if you don't want to overclock the ram. Crucial ballistix ram will probably do ddr2 900-1000mhz speeds if you push a little more voltage and relax the timings to 5-5-5-12 or 5-5-5-15, meaning you can 3.15-3.5ghz. Hope this makes sense to you hehe. Or you have to buy ddr2 1066mhz ram. Better might be the e6750 with an 8 multiplier, which will do 3.2ghz without overclocking ddr2 800mhz ram.
