Intel Core 2 Duo 6700 Processor, OEM, $399.00

This is my first post so take it easy on me folks. Just received an e-mail form Micro Center that has a link to print out a $200.00 coupon for this processor. Sounds like a pretty hot deal to me!

I wonder if there is any benifit to buying one of these over getting the E6600 since they both OC about the same. I guess it would be good for non-oc'er

Higher Multiplier maybe. Not a bad deal if you been wanting to jump on the C2D wagon.

Great deal if you must have that processor today. From what I'm reading if you can wait a month it should drop lower than the present sale price.

I know Intel was going to reduce their prices mid April but I'm not sure if that's official or speculation.

I'd be glad to be educated.

Looks like Intel has really beat out AMD this time. C2D price has not budged *at all* in the past 4-5 months, unlike the price wars we've seen in previous yrs.

Not to worry rookie, this is a very good deal. OEM 6700s are currently going in the mid $500s .

As to the advantage of the E6700 vs. the E6600, YMMV but Game PC had this to say:

The Core 2 Duo E6700 is the fastest Duo on the market, providing the best stock speeds but also proved itself to be the most overclockable Core 2 Duo chip we?ve tested to date, as it was able to easily clock up to 3.5 GHz with very little effort.

The E6600 is a better value when you compare the processors at standard pricing ($320 to $550), but the 6700 at this price may be the best deal out there.

The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on this is the much reported Intel price drops scheduled for mid-April.
