Found a C2D 4300 for $35 and was wondering if it would be better than my Pentium D 3.2ghz?
Thanks, Mitch

Let's not get carried away that EVERY c2d beats EVERY PD. Yes, an e4300 pwns a PD3.2.
But a 3.7GHz PD Extreme Edition w/ HT will pwn an e2140.

There there, i feel your pain. You have to justify your pricey P4EE purchase and say that it plows all over a $75 cpu...

It's a legitimate point. As evidenced by this thread, there is a tendency to assume that every Core 2 Duo is better than every desktop Netburst chip. And at launch, that was true. The E6300, which was the slowest launch chip, was faster than every Netburst desktop chip, including the $1000 ones.
But Intel has launched some slower models since then, so you can't count on that absolute anymore.
Anyway, assuming the OP doesn't need a new motherboard, this is a good deal.
