CHIP GIANT INTEL confirmed problems with the latest Pentium 4 915 (Grantsdale)chipset it released on the 21st of this month. It has told motherboard makers that a defect has been found and the products should be returned.
Shipments to the channel have been suspended already. Intel will apparently provide compensation for any losses motherboard makers have taken.

I don't know wether to applaud them for their quick reaction and excepting full accountability without hesitation, or deride them for letting the faulty hardware make it past QC and into shippments

A minor debacle but troubling at the same time. Are they rushing things out the door prematurely? If so is it a symptom of feeling pressure from AMD's strong sales and good industry buzz of late? Or is this just one of those little SNAFUs that happen from time to time?
