ive heard different things.
i had always thought that you cant run sli without an nvidia chipset. then i thought well then whats the point of dual PCI-E slots on intel motherboards? then someone came in the other day and was very adament about there being intel boards that can run SLI.
anyone know for sure?

Intel chipset boards don't support SLI.
They do however, support ATI crossfire..kinda ironic now that ATI belongs to their competition.

phh personally sli/crossfire is not worth it.. by the time you get the board and 2xVideo cards it would have been more cost effective to just buy the next step up card.
That and not ever game supports either mode and sometimes there is no increase in preformace

I know the Dell Precision 690 which has an Intel 5000X chipset supports both Crossfire and SLI.

There's a hacked driver that'll let you run sli on the 975 chipset, but I don't think it's officially supported.

the hacked drivers are not supported but work fairly well (from what I have heard) on 975, I suspect there will be hacked drivers for the p38 when that is out as well.

Signed. SLI and Crossfire are a waste of time.

it does support SLI but only through a hacked driver. CrossFire/SLI isn't worth it. too expensive. it is more worth it to simply upgrade to the next gen card.

Officaly SLI is not supported on Intel chipsets, however w/ hacked drivers you can run the 7900 series or older Nvidia cards w/ intel chipsets. 8800 cards don't work

thanks, i wasnt sure.
i feel better now knowing he was wrong.
he didnt mention any hacked drivers, he was saying that out of the box there were many intel chipset boards that will run sli.
