It might sound silly to some of you, but I don't know how to uninstall Intel Chipset Drivers. I've owned my X38-DQ6 since a few months but never before I attempted to update the Intel Chipset drivers for it, you know, when I installed XP I then used the CD-ROM and installed the drivers that were on it (maybe it was a bad idea, I myself rarely do that). Before my X38-DQ6 I had an nForce 4-based motherboard. With that motherboard it was very easy for me to uninstall the nForce drivers simply because there was a proper uninstaller for it under the "Add/Remove Program Files" function. All I had to do was to run that uninstaller, and reboot, and voila, my motherboard was devoid of those drivers and it was a good thing to do some times obviously for troubleshooting purposes or just to update the newest nForce drivers.
But now that I noticed that my previously installed Intel Chipset drivers are quite old compared to the most recent ones I wanted to uninstall them. So I checked under Add/Remove Program Files and to my surprise I found no Intel Uninstallers like I had for nForce drivers. And again to my surprise I then noticed that both Intel folders (one under C:\ and the other under C:\Program Files\) only contained .txt files such as Readmes and Licenses. Then I tried using Driver Sweeper and Driver Cleaner and both of those utilities have no Intel Chipset Drivers removal/cleaning options whatsoever!
Finally I made a search under the Windows folder for "Intel" (without the quotes of course) and it found the following files: http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/3549/intelbxn2.png
Then I verified the properties of the files under the drivers section of Windows, to find out what was the files' versions, and they showed the old version I indeed installed the first time I got XP running up and so on, with the CD-ROM for the Intel Chipset drivers, and etc. So that indicates me that the Intel Chipset drivers I installed back then with that CD-ROM indeed installed properly, and that's alright. But why isn't there any official Intel uninstaller to get rid of those drivers if we want to update them? With that said I'd like to update the drivers but I wonder if I have to manually uninstall those files or not, if it could break my OS install somehow or not.
Should I just go ahead and overwrite everything?
