I just installed Windows 8. Do I need to download and install these Intel chipset drivers from Gigabyte, or are they already installed by Windows?

Intel RST is optional unless you are running raid. USB 3.0 is already supported in Win 8 so no need for the Win 8 driver.

you should ALWAYS install the IRST driver ragardless of RAID!

It has the SATA / AHCI controller driver. that's what determines the performance!

Everytime a new Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver is released I can't wait to try it out and benchmark using Crystal Diskmark! it does make a difference
