Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205

Hopeless

Had a few things come up but finally got the RT-N66U and the adapter in the title. Planning on getting it setup this weekend. My question is about the adapter which is PCI Express x1.

If I don't have a usable x1 will it cause any issues if I use the x16_2 since I'm not running dual video cards?

Running Windows 7, is it better to let windows do it's thing or install the software that came with the adapter?

Thanks. On my mobo the bios gives the option when using both x16 slots of x8/x8 or x16/x4 but luckily I didn't have to test that out as there was a x1 above the x16_1 slot that was usable.

Hardest part of the entire process was going through Win 7 to find where to put in my ssid / password as I've been using a wrt54gl in bridge mode never had to set up any of it before.

Last time I went to speedtest.net the bridged dual wrt54gl (tomato) got around 17 down. With the RT-N66U and title adapter one quick test after install got 34 down. My plan is "up to" 25 down so pretty worthwhile upgrade.
