Hi,
I just bought the parts for my first computer build, centered around the Intel Celeron (Socket 775).

I know most processors need a thermal paste between the processor and the heatsink, but this processor didnt come with any and furthermore the links on the Intel site that I found, suggest that the thermal paste is actually already attached to the heatsink in the form of three "thermal strips"

Here is one of the pages I found:
Celeron Thermal Solution

Can anyone confirm this info? I am about to attach the stock heatsink without using any thermal compound.

Thanks,
Joe

There should be some dark gray goo already plastered on the bottom of the heatsink. Is there nothing there?

Yup, that's the pre-applied thermal goop. You're good to go . (It'll smooth out after the CPU heats up a bit.)
