Intel Celeron 2.6ghz vs Intel 1.5 gig for Laptops

Hello,
i'm just entereing the market for a laptop and see soem great deals for a celeron laptops with a 2.8 gig
ans for a intel 1.5 seems slightly higher.
how does it's performance rate compaired to each other,
also where dose amd fall in with these.
if you don't mind giving me a quick lession please leave a post.

My guess is a Pentium M 715 (1.5Ghz, .90nu) would wipe the floor with that Celeron.

Typically, Celeron = AVOID ME!

if its a P4M chip @ 1.5 ... it will better than a 2.8 celeron

just to clarify what blodhi74 said. Pentium4 M and Pentium M are two different types of chip. But @ 1.5Ghz it would be a pentium M. They are probably pound for pound (clock cycle for clock cycle) the fastest CPUs out there.
