Here's The News Article

"The Timna, which was expected to come out in the first quarter of next year, has met its doom because of design problems and market conditions, an Intel representative said today. "

Who here want's to bet:

1. Intel isn't even close to getting the .13 micron process the chip would need to be space/power efficent.

2. The MTH is still as buggy as the day it was born.

1) Intel will beat AMD to 0.13, and I (IMHO) think they'll do it better then they did the 0.25 to 0.18 switch.

2) They aren't using an MTH (Memory Translator Hub) anymore now it's a MPT (Memory Protocol Translator) :p

Well, this is the latest in an ongoing series of mistakes for Intel Who wants to take a stab at what will be the next one?
The way things are going it's pretty much assured there WILL be a next one..

Thorin, have you been daydreaming again? :) AMD can switch to .15um and .13um, maybe even lower, anytime they want. All it would take is a snap of the fingers. The transition is also likely to go rather smooth, given Dresden's state of the art nature.

Intel, on the other hand, has to completely retool their fab(s). They are also in murky waters, as far as their Copper process goes. They have none. It took Motorola and IBM a bit of time to get their Copper process down good. If Intel goes it alone, It's safe to say that it would also take them time. Retooling your fabs isn't always an easy matter. It's like starting over. This is what has hurt AMD in the passed. They had problems with the switch from .35 to .25.

Hmm... Intel's next mistake: The Pentium 4 will be recalled shortly after release.

You can put that on the record. ;) Yep, you saw it here first folks. :D
