Intel withdraws new Pentium 4 for the time being

Actually Intel wanted to present today a Pentium 4 with 3 GHz, which has one suitably today the actually presented chip set i875P ( Canterwood) on 200 MHz (FSB800) accelerated Fontside bus. But in last minute Intel withdrew the beginner, as firm speaker Christian Anderka one opposite heise on-line confirmed. At a small number of processors "not expected results" emerged with the FSB800-Betrieb, which must examine Intel more exactly now.

What the hell ..?

Link fixed. The board software isn't too smart handling HTML code.

Sorry, english ain't my first language. Surely 'delayed' would be more appropriate.

Interesting...

Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't.
In either case the ES of the chip bend AMD's 3000+ over backwards spankin them.
Who yo' daddy.

Yahoo! News Story

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Intel Corp. (Nasdaq:INTC - news) on Monday said it has temporarily halted shipment of its new 3 Gigahertz Pentium 4 processor after detecting a problem in a small number of chips.

The chips "possibly could not be performing to specification," said Intel spokeswoman Laura Anderson.

Intel said earlier on Monday that it was rolling out the new Pentium 4, with an 800 Megahertz system bus, and a new 875P chipset, aimed at the high end of the computing market.

Anderson said the chipset is not affected by the anomaly found in the processors, which serve as the brains of computers.

Santa Clara, California-based Intel is working with its customers and could not release further details about the problem, according to Anderson.

Halting the shipments of the processors would likely affect the availability of new systems based on the chip, Intel said.

The new processor and integrated chipset will allow people to make an Internet phone call while streaming digital music, said Intel, the world's largest maker of semiconductors.

"I would speculate that this is not a first order of magnitude issue or it would have shown up in testing much earlier in the process," said Thomas Thornhill of UBS Warburg.

GOD HAS CANCELLED THE FUTURE

yes the lord o mighty has found a bug in the future and it will be cancelled, or at the very least delayed.

😉

im wondering if theres a BIOS available for wives who complain too much about our overclocking hobby .. mine definitely need a BIOS update.. too buggy (i mean she BUGS me too much...).

Who knows maybe they found a bug some of us have seen with c1's and multitasking at oc'd levels!!! Prime95 all day at certain speeds to crash while doing other task or in conjunction with other tasks.....Anyone else want to conspiracy theory on this one???

except maybe they overlooked an issue with the c1's and now it opened the window to a problem with the d1's....😉

Who knows I am just throwing some shite out there!!!!

while " It's an excuse. They haven't been able to produce in volume yet" is a good conspiracy theory, it just wouldnt make sense for intel. A minor dealay or trickling into the market would be far less damaging to intel's pr than an anomalous "bug."

but then you were probably kiddin anyway. The whole thing is fine with me, it lets me retain my feeling of 1337ness for just a bit longer 🙂
