Intel C2D 6750 and Asus P5N-E SLI

Hello, This might be a nub question but.

I recently got a P5N-E SLI from a friend and I bought a 6750 the other day. It came across my mind that the bios might not be compatible with the CPU. If was to put the CPU in, would it even post or allow me to flash it with the new bios, Or would i have to purchase or borrow another processor to flash the bios.

You will not know until you try.

Seems like the new CPU's are just the overclocked older models - E6400 became E6750, E6600 became E6850.

I am running the E6600 at 325MHz FSB, x9 is 2.925GHz, almost like E6850 with 333 x 9 = 3GHz.

But again - you will know for sure if you physically install it in the MB.

My friend purchased this board, around january, so im guessing it has one of the first bios versions. So I dont know if that is gonna change anything

The P5N-E supports the E6X50 processors, but only with a BIOS update. Thing is, I don't know whether it will even post one, or not, if it doesn't have a newer BIOS. You'll find out soon enough, though. Let us know, okay?
