yeah core 2 is derived from those chips, but the "core" branding was more a way for intel to step away from the netburst architecture behind the P4, and bring something new to the the table seeing as raw clock speed wasnt panning out.
dothan/yonah kinda existed before the core branding and so shouldnt really be labled as such.
Wow... I like how you like to spew FUD.
Core2 Duo is based on Core Duo (Yonah) technology with Netburst pre-fetchers and decoder. Do you wonder why Netburst Optimized Compilers work better for Core2 than Pentium-M Optimized Compilers? As for the raw clockspeed comment, I'm pretty damn sure a 4Ghz Core2 > 3Ghz Core2, as most people who overclock will point out.
As for Yonah being 2 Dothans stapled together, I dont see how thats possible, seeing as how Yonah has a shared L2 hierarchy whereas even the AMD X2 is dual independant L2's. Its physically NOT POSSIBLE to seperate a Yonah; Core Solo's are nothing more than Core Duo's with a core disabled due to a manufacturing defect.
