I recently bought an Intel BoxDG31PR mobo from Buy.com.
It came with an old BIOS, 0028, which doesn't recognize any of the recent processors.
I don't have a spare cpu (I haven't even bought the e7200 yet), so can I do the BIOS recovery procedure with the e7200 installed to update BIOS with the BIOS recovery utility?
Or do I need say an old Conroe to even do this?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Intel(R) Technical Support.
In regards your inquiry, the Intel(R) Desktop Board DG31PR rev. 205 was released with BIOS version 0028.
If your Intel(R) Desktop Board DG31PR is up and running, in order to update the BIOS to version 0052 just download and execute the following file:
http://downloadcenter.intel.co...roductID=2839<=eng
Otherwise you will need to perform a BIOS recovery with a processor installed on your Intel(R) Desktop Board DG31PR, that requires version 0032 from the following list:
http://processormatch.intel.co....aspx?Boardname=dg31pr
A. Perform a BIOS recovery:
1. In order to perform a BIOS recovery on your system you need to make a BIOS recovery CD-ROM
To create a BIOS recovery CD-ROM, copy the recovery file (*.BIO) to it. You can download the latest BIOS recovery file at the following url:
http://downloadcenter.intel.co...roductID=2839<=eng
2. Place the disk in the CD drive of the target system.
3. Remove the BIOS Configuration Jumper. The location of the BIOS configuration jumper can be found on the following url:
http://www.intel.com/assets/pdf/prodspec/dg31pr-tps.pdf page 53.
4. Power the system on.
5. Wait 2-5 minutes for the update to complete. When the CD-ROM LED is lit, the system is copying the recovery code into the FLASH device.
6. System will either turn off when the recovery process is completed or it will prompt you to turn off the system.
7. Remove CD disk from drive.
8. Replace the BIOS configuration jumper.
9. Restart system
