Intel Boot Agent

I've got a toshiba laptop that I use for work. It came with winxp home but I needed to install win2k on it so that I could run some metering software. The computer sits on a black screen for 3 minutes. At the top it says Intel Boot Agent and lists the mac address. It also has a little status indicator right next to DHCP. The computer won't continue to load until the progress bar by the word DHCP loads all the way. I don't know if this is a networking problem or not, but I would greatly appreciate any help in solving the problem.

Thanks,
Andrew

It's a BIOS option. Your computer is attempting to network boot to, most likely, a PXE server. When it's sitting by DHCP it's trying to resolve an IP address. This is the primary method for imaging machines over a network via Altiris, Landesk, and other solutions. Sounds like it's configured incorrectly, however, since it shouldn't take that long to resolve an IP address via DHCP. If you hit ESC during the process, you should be able to cancel it.

Alternatively, if you know your business doesn't use it, and you have access to the BIOS, you can change the boot order.

I'd like to turn it off if I can. I've tried getting into the BIOS with DEL and F8, but no dice.
