Is the article stating that no Intel made Conroe boards will support SLI, or no Conroe boards period will support SLI?

If AMD and ATI partner up ( don't know the latest on that On again Off again situation ) then you can bet Intel and Nvidia will do something.

I believe its no Intel chipset boards will suppport SLI, only ATI Crossfire.

Maybe there'll be (or is) a hack to bypass the limitation.

Nividia are releasing the Nforce 590 chipset boards for Conroe which support SLI, and seem to be very competative to Intels offerings.

There have been just as many rumors of Intel buying ATI out also, but I seriously doubt either will happen.

The original SLi boards were Intel...

Pretty sure they weren't Intel chipsets.

I think its NVIDIA that dont want their SLI to be licenced with Intel chipsets. This is the reason why for now we dont see any SLI intel platform except using NVIDIA chipsets only. This is not the case for AMD as AMD platform needs this as they dont have any PCIe integrated in their CPU plu NVIDIA is a major PCIe vendor for AMD platform.

Nope, its nvidia that will not support SLI on the Intel boards.

Proof:

Older Nvidia drivers for the 6600GT/6800 series officially allow SLI on the 975 boards. Newer Nvidia drivers disable the SLI for the 6600/6800 series and wont allow the 7800/7900 to run SLI. There are people who hacked the BIOS and run SLI, but those are far and few.

I think it's also because they are direct competitors.
