Nice price. I have the original version and have found it to be a nice board. The memory voltage is a bit restrictive.

Mine is due in on Friday. If it includes all the accessories and still has a 3-year warranty, what is missing that we need?

John,

If the ZZF bulk version is the OEM version that I think it is, there are a few differences in the accessory package.....maybe Jeff can help with this.

The retail package of this board has a rounded floppy cable, rounded 2-port IDE cable, 4 SATAII cables.....all are UV reactive, btw, and a 2-port rear USB bracket.

The OEM package comes with flat ribbon floppy and IDE cables, two red SATAII cables (non-UV reative) and no rear 2-port USB bracket.

The OEM version may not include the value-added extra software CD....I am not sure about this, and since Jeff had one, he can say for sure. But the retail package of this board has a CD that includes a lot of extra software, such as Kaspersky anti-virus, RestoreIT backup software, and other stuff.

If the ZZF board package is a bulk/OEM version, there may also be a definite warranty difference despite anything listed on ZZF's website. Typically, Intel gives 3 years warranty on retail boards and 1 year warranty on OEM/bulk boards. I'd honestly contact Intel, not ZZF, and clarify this point.

If ZZF has the warranty period listed incorrectly, and I don't know for sure so that's why I'd ask Intel and make sure, ZZF's wiggle room will come from this:

"Specifications subject to change without notice."

The rounded cables aren't a big deal. I make my own anyway. However, the photo on the Newegg page for the $219 OEM board doesn't show rounded cables either. Big difference in price for what appears to be the same thing.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage...tel+975X+ATX+Intel+Motherboard+%2D+OEM

Here is a list of what Intel says comes in the box:

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d975xbx2/sb/CS-023490.htm

When I go to the Intel page of online retailers, ZZF is listed there:

http://www.intel.com/buy/desktop/boxed-board/online-retailers.htm

The warranty is another story. From the Intel Desktop Boards page:

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/cs-009050.htm

"Intel offers both 3-year and 1-year limited warranties on Boxed Intel® Desktop Boards purchased from Intel Authorized Distribution. ? Please see warranty information located on the Intel® Express Installer CD that shipped with the Boxed Intel® Desktop Board to verify warranty length and conditions."

Can someone look at the CD to verify?

John

I just called Intel and they told me that for that particular model ALL warranties are three years whether OEM or Retail. Hope he was right.

So are you guys selling the Retail Box or the OEM package of the Intel BLKD975XBX2KR for $184.99?

John

Retail :)

Thanks,

If I don't like the looks of the board or package for some reason when it arrives or the Intel® Express Installer CD says something different about the warranty than what the guy from Intel told me on the phone back it goes to ZZF and I'll be giving you guys a call immediately to place an order. :)

Thanks again,

John

Update:

I just received my motherboard from ZZF. Although the parts did not come in a retail box they were well packaged and double boxed. A Fedex box with the parts inside including styrofoam peanuts then placed inside of a larger box filled with styrofoam peanuts and very well sealed.

The contents of the package were as pictured here on Newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage...tel+975X+ATX+Intel+Motherboard+%2D+OEM

and in addition to what is pictured, there are two floppy discs containing the raid drivers.

According to the Intel website describing the retail package the following are not included in the OEM package:

- Two additional SATA cables
- One Rear Panel USB 2.0 adapter
- Integration Guide Poster
- Printed Product Guide

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d975xbx2/sb/CS-023490.htm

Nothing at the Intel website indicates that the IDE and floppy cables are "rounded" in the retail box so one should safely assume that the flat cables I got are the same.

To confirm what the Intel Rep told me yesterday regarding the warranty I looked at the warranty information located on the Intel® Express Installer CD and the information on the CD confirmed that the OEM board does indeed have a THREE YEAR WARRANTY.

It would appear that the ZZF deal is a good one although currently the Tank Guys deal described above (which is for the retail box) tops it. However, if one is spending much over $200 for the retail boxed version it doesn't seem like you are really gaining much for the additional cost. In fact, the Newegg deal for $225.63 delivered is for the same OEM version I received. The ZZF OEM deal came to $179.99 delivered.

Thanks guys, I ended up selling my ZZF OEM board on ebay (rather than pay to ship it back and get hit with restock fee) and purchased a retail board from Tank Guys instead. I came out okay, only lost $2.50 + ebay fees. I just wish I knew about Tank Guys deal before the ZZF deal ;)

You are missing something. This board allows oc'ing and is stable. An about face from Intel, and about time.

Does it do ok with FSB o/c of quads?

I've read it also doesn't like Areca RAID controllers. I think my Asus P5WDG2-WS is dying. :(

Three PCI-E slots?
