Arrandale pentium at 1.33 ghz vs Baytrail Atom at 1.86 ghz.

They are about the same. Yes the atom has more cores and a higher ghz, but it is a low power design and is not as fast as the nehalem based arrandale. In real world.

Baytrail Atom will have similar multithread at the clock speeds they are at. Baytrail will faster graphics.

The old arrandale netbook will have faster single thread.

To my understanding your computer has a fan, this asus does not have one, and it might be lighter and better life.

The asus has a 32gb ssd/emmc storage, which is probably faster than your storage but I can not tell without more info on both computers (I have not seen the asus bench yet, so it can be cheap storage or good storage).

I know staples is doing it, I do not know if there are other bricks and mortors since I have not looked through all the ads and some of them have not been announced yet.

thx.

Unless ASUS bought the cheapest crappiest flash memory it will be faster that that harddrive.

EMMC is flash memory that they use for phones and tablets without a sata port. SSDs are very similar except they have a SSD controller with 1 or more dedicated cpus, and they run many flash chips in parallel (like 4, 6, 8, or 10) and thus get much faster speeds since if the controller does its job correctly and there are no other bottlenecks you can scale almost linearly until the controller gets overwhelmed.
