I have an Intel 815e board, and i just formatted, i was wondering if I should install the Intel ATA100 Chipset drivers? The board is ATA100, and I have a 75GXP HD.
Does these drivers slow down my system any? i heard that from someone..

These drivers are not essential to system operation or performance, although they do contain some neat tricks. Avoid them for the moment if you are using Win2K, but they are fine for Win9x.

You should also avoid them if you have an IDE CDRW, as these drivers cause buffer under-runs unless you set the maximum transfer rate to PIO4 rather than one of the UDMA modes.

NO! Do not install them. They do not work as well as the Microsoft IDE drivers. Just install 98SE and the 815 chipset drivers. Your 75GXp will fly with that setup.
