I tried downloading the latest Application Accelerator from intels site, but it says it does not support my board
(865 series, 800fsb, HT)..

anyone have any idea on how to enable DMA, being as there is no option because of the intel chipset
and i can't get Application Accelerator??

thanks.

What ICH does your board have? ICH5 or ICH5R? If it's R version you need AA raid edition. I think you don't use it otherwise. Which one does your mb manufacturer site give? Could try the normal AA version 2.3

What operating system? You don't need to install the IAA's anyhow.

Later versions of the IAA won't let me burn CDs. I get 'reset errors' in every single program I try. It's a TH7-II RAID, with a Plextor 12/10/32A. Old revisions didn't have this problem. Just a heads up. :) You can enable DMA from the Device Manager without IAA, but they do help performance, especially in games with long load times.

I thought DMA was turned on by default in XP? Am I wrong about that?

Regarding IAA...I tried it when I first built my i845 based system a year ago. Had occasional crashes and weirdness, especially when trying to use my CD-RW. I got rid of it and haven't had any problems since. Personally I wouldn't use it.

For some reason I get the same thing when I try to install the Intel Application Accelerator Raid Edition for my Asus P4P800 Deluxe. It has a 865PE chipset.

No problems on the P4P800 Deluxe here. I had to use it actually to get the SATA RAID drivers.
