If i was to make a new build soon... Would it be best to go with an i7 with the x58 mobo, or a Phenom II X4 with the 790FX board? On both builds I'd use a 260gtx with 4-6GB of DDR3 with a corsair 650W PSU and the same case with a compatible cpu fan. Or there is always the choice of just to wait til the 32nm'scomes out..but I am not looking to really spend more than $1,000, so I would have to wait a year at least. Any suggestions?

I vote for NOTHING based on your current system:
Ga-P35-D3SL, E6750(Oc'ed to 3.4Ghz) w/ Arctic Freezer 7 Pro, 4 GB G.Skill (DDR2800, Linked), EVGA 8800gt 512 MB, Corsair VX 550w, WD 160GB Hard Drive, 1TB Fantom Ext. HD, Antec 900

If you feel the itch to upgrade, just swap out your video card.

for a sub-$1000 budget i wouldn't mess with an i7 right now.

for gaming i'd stick to your current proc, maybe later down the road you can up it to a quad for cheap and grab a new gpu.
