Intel Active Monitor software

I stumbled across this little utility.

I was thinking that it could replace Intel TAT and Gigabyte EasyTune software; I use both to monitor my Gigabyte MB.

It says it only works with Intel motherboards. I'm wondering if that means Intel branded MBs or Intel chipset motherboards.

I could install it on my Gigabyte DS3...but then again, I just finished a fresh, from scratch load of XP just three days ago. I'm not in a gambling mood. 😛

Anyone try this out yet with an Intel chipset MB?

"Intel Active Monitor does not support Intel desktop boards based on 915G, 915P, 925X, and future chipsets. For hardware monitoring on these boards, use Intel Desktop Utilities," quoted directly from the Active Monitor site, which I suppose means it will not work with your 965 chipset motherboard. I have tried Active Monitor and can confirm it does not work with the 975X chipset (I am using a D975XBX2 motherboard), but I use the Intel Desktop Utilities and it does work pretty well, with certain exceptions.

I have discovered IDU has some issues with other monitoring software, specifically nTune, which I have replaced with RivaTuner, which does not display the same incompatibility, and CPUz, an incomptability which can be resolved by editing the cpuz.ini file and changing the SMBus value to OFF. I think IDU also has an issue with Speedfan but I can't be sure as I haven't tried troubleshooting it because IDU, Intel Desktop Control Center, Intel Thermal Analysis Tool and Core Temp suit my temperature monitoring needs. IDCC also supports fan speed control in Windows, as well as a host of other BIOS editing options directly through Windows, but unfortunately I think it is only supported on Intel motherboards.
