Intel 975XBX2 (Bad Axe 2) - Memory Help!

Hi,

Anyone have any experience with the Intel 975XBX2 (Bad Axe 2) and memory? I'm not sure if it's picky or not. I'm looking for 2gb of DDR2 800 ram in the 200-300 price range.

Any advice is appricated!

Any suggestions? Looking for something that will book at a standard volt and allow me to increase.

What do you mean by "fatbody?"

Also, I note that only a few models use Aeneon chips, but I had a very good experience with Aeneons in the OCZ Platinum DDR400 (2,3,2,5) kits.

Some reviews tout A-Data as among a few of best-performers (as I recall . . ) I see the Aeneons in one Mushkin model and some OCZ Gold GX-ers. IF (and only if) the lower-speed DDR2 models with Aeneon behave like the DDR Platinums I mentioned, you would think that they would be extremely over-clockable at the rated latencies and modest voltage increases.
 
The sticks of RAM that have either D9GMG or D9GKX (the latter being more OC friendly) are the ones to look for ATM. I got me some GeIL DDR2-800 Ultra 2x1GB from newegg and so far they are running great (stock ATM due to lack of OC friendly board).
 
I have two sticks of Geil 2.0-2.1v 4-4-4-10 800 ram and it worked fine on first boot as 5-5-5-15 800 ram at 1.8v.

It was the cheapest 2gb kit thy had at Newegg and have light bluish heatspreaders.

I had noted the enthusiasm and performance reviews for the high-end Corsair DDR2-800 modules kits. The particular Corsair model runs at CAS 3 under the spec speed. [and they also cost an arm and a leg -- in fact -- everywhere I've checked has them "out of stock" at the moment.]

Sometimes, intuitive suspicions provide additional guidelines when augmented by additional facts and recommendations. There are also some OCZ sticks that use those Micron chips.
 
You don't have to get "name brand" memory. Even the smaller vendors such as GeIL, G-Skill, and Buffalo are great providers of the same ICs but at a fraction of the price.
 
I'm getting the same board and most likely getting the Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 from ZZF (2GB). Crucial has always worked great for me.
