Ok this board doesnt look to be overclock friendly(could be my learning curve ) but it seems stable so far im going to do some benchmarks later couple of question

The stock intel fan doesnt seem to be adjustable it stays around 970 rpm is this right?
I see 2 settings for the vols in intels utility software
CPU core stays around 1.188
CPU i/o is at 1.484 are these right (not sure i understand)
Processor stays around 47c (i thought it would be lower)

Basically does everything look right as far as voltages and temps.,?

With the Asus 939 and x2-3800 i did mess with settings so im not sure what i need to adjust or what i can adjust for optimal performance

I've been considering this board, what are the rest of the components that you are using with the rig? Any noteworthy issues with setup?

As far as OC'ing goes, it is pretty well known that this board isn't OC'er friendly. I don't think that means that is doesn't OC pretty well, just that it isn't friendly about it. i.e if you push it too far, you have to reset the entire BIOS becasue it doesn't just reboot you into a safe state like the more OC friendly boards like those from Asus and DFI.

I remember reading something about the BadAxe requiring some do-it-yourself modding to get the full overclocking capabilities out of the board.

As for those temps, 47C idle is high, if that's the reading from the motherboard diode. The core temps (download a program called CoreTemp), howerver, will likely be a bit higher. For example, my E6300 (soon to be replaced with a E6600) has these for idle temps:

CPU (mobo diode): 31C
Core1 diode: 42C
Core2 diode: 42C

Note: I'm using the CoolerMaster Hyper48 instead of the stock cooler.

I actually just ordered this board and the e6300. It should arrive in 3 or 4 days. I'll tell you all how it is.

This board is actually a VERY good overclocker, you just have to make a few changes.

Note: this requires alot of soldering skill and requires making changes directly to the mobo so it's not for the faint of heart!

I'm interested in the core temp reading. Phile, are you sure that program reads the core temps? A bunch of us were looking around for one at procooling.com but we couldn't find any. If it turns out this is the real deal, that could mean great news for the watercooling test bench!

I read the BadAxe is a great overclocker but stability issues are a concern. Lot of people been burning these mobos up in their overclocking attempts so be careful with it. I read one thread on another site where one guy has gone through 5 of these mobos so far because of overclocking. Not sure if thats true or not though. You'd think after the second mobo he'd get wise but people do tend to push the limits in their search for maximum performance. Big problem seems to be when increasing voltage on these mobos from what I have read so far. Thats where people been burning them up from what I heard. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Intel had mentioned a BadAxe2 mobo on their website last I looked. Possibly a improved model? No picture or anything. Just the name of the mobo.

Well, CoreTemp appears to properly read the core diodes, at least in my case. I also use Everest Ultimate, which also reads the core diodes, and its readings are the same as I get from CoreTemp.

ahh... nice. Hmm I hope my XBX clocks nicely. It doesn't matter though, I'm not going to OC for 2 or 3 years.

if you have a version 304 of the bad axe, you do not have to do any soldering. Just get some conductive ink (radio shack sells a pen) and connect two points on the motherboard to release some of the vcore options. Look at this link, first post, image 3:

I was actually refering to the memory OC and the Tcore mods =p. But yes, you're correct. If you're lucky enough to get a 304, then basic OCing is very simple
