HI

I just installed an Intel 865perll motherboard. When the OS get done loading there is a loud pop in the speakers. According to the technical papers that is on Intels site theres nothing than can be done about it. The Intel 865perll uses a ADI chip with soundmax. I was wondering if other 865pe based motherboards that dont use this chip make this same popping noise? If I use a separate sound card will this popping go away? The sound is terrific otherwise.

thanks

"Soundstorm" is an NVidia quality approval program, not a hardware feature. An Intel chipset mainboard cannot possibly have that.

Popping noise is the audio drivers doing things in the wrong order, like enabling the analog outputs _after_ turning the volume up. Try later drivers.
