I am trying to make up my mind which ethernet adapters to buy. I have a few Tbird and 2 Celeron systems. I just want a good ones since these are heavy traffic (serving 300 Ethernet connections for the dorms).

what's so rocky about intel cards? which one to buy?
intel 8460b or 8461?
I appreciate you response.

I need to find a retailer with a great deal on those adapters too. I need about 10 now. I know they sell intel ones in five packs because previous dude had his ordered in sets.

LANMAN Have you ever used your 3Com cards when connected to a Cisco switch if so have you had any problems with them?

I can honestly say the pro100+ M's I have rock, I'd say a bit faster than a 905b for a cable modem connection. But slightly higher CPU utilization comes along with that slightly higher speed.
Both are great NIC's, and with a TBird, I don't think there's much CPU utilization to worry about 😀

I have been using the pro100+ server and it has been great. Two for $119. The super low CPU utilizing pro100+ server using the 8470 chip can be seen here.
