Intel 845PE - Worth the Plunge?

Hey all, I've been thinking of upgrading lately, and the 845PE chipset (what with the 533MHz FSB and DDR333 and all) has caught my eye. My question is: What's the word on the chipset? Are there any crippling problems (incompatibilities, instabilities, etc), and is the extra performance worth the price?

It's a good chipset, but wait 3 weeks for the Granite Bay chipset (7205 I think)... It'll have dual-channel DDR. (twice the memory bandwidth)

I agree with spice daddy...The PE mobo is merely a official validation of pc2700 which many of us have been running for over half a year now...The prices are way to high and with GB looming seems pretty foolish to jump on it yet without seeing what dual ddr wil do for p4....Older E mobos have already had official 533fsb support so it mainly was pc2700 support, maybe some voltage changes for the newer 3ghz p4's, and maybe even some HT support....some older E and G chipsets already have HT support....

for $90 you can't beat Albatron's PX845PEV Pro

I love it and I'm not liking the GB because of the locked 1:1 memory divider and support for DDR 266 operation ONLY! So to run my DDR400 at spec I'd need to run 200Mhz FSB and NO CPU is gonna do that.

PC2100 (DDR266) on a GB = PC4200

PC3200 (DDR400) on 845PE = PC3200

I like it...😎

GB is going to be out FIRST with dual channel DDR200.
Any one know how soon after this the GB with dual channel DDR266 will become available?
