Intel 845E cooling

I have an Abit IT7, and one of the clips for the northbridge heatsink broke off the motherboard. Thus, there's no heatsink on the northbridge now.

Can the computer still run without a northbridge cooler? This computer will not be on 24/7.

Are there any tips or best practices on how to attach a heatsink with only one clip or how to reattach the clip to the motherboard?

I wouldn't recommend running it without a heatsink.

I remember BITD people repairing these using paperclips. Indeed here's a writeup right on Abit's forums.

To follow up, I tried it out with a paper clip, and it worked! It holds well. Thanks again Zap.
